The Center for Wooden Boats

The Annual Wooden Boat Show takes place on the Beaufort waterfront at the North Carolina Maritime Museum and the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center. Beaufort has been named “Best Yachting Town in America” by Yachting magazine. Tidewater Wooden Boat Workshop teaches Hampton Roads youth STEM and life skills through the building of wooden boats and other nautical activities. All of our youth programs are offered at no cost to families with many sessions throughout the week in an effort to meet scheduling needs.

Many vessels will be open to the public for on board viewing. Please note that all attendees will be required to remove their shoes before boarding any boat. We ask that you tread lightly as many of the wooden boats in the festival are very old boats. Today, Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival is the most education-packed and inspiring wooden boat event in the world.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum receives no federal, state, or municipal funding except through competitive, project-based grants. Your donation pedal boat helps support our mission of education and preservation. Students and instructor must wipe down tools and touch points after class.
