It could only reach about 7″ into a 3″ wide slot, which was a shorter than average reach for products in this lineup. It did a little better with a narrower 1.25″ slot, able to clean up to 5.75″ underneath bissell pet vacuum — just a bit further than the group average of 4.6″. Next, we evaluated and compared how easy it is to clean some of the smaller and harder-to-access areas of the home with each vacuum.
Bissell has intelligently created a system whereby the brushroll can easily be removed and cleaned . It has an on/off button on top of the canister and a toggle switch on the wand’s handle that lets you change between low carpet and plush carpet. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Cordless Vacuum delivers on its promise to clean up pet-specific messes, but it can’t replace your full-size vacuum. The Bespoke is charged on a ‘clean station’, which not only powers the vacuum but sucks out any collected dust into a sealed bag. That means that when the clean station is full, you can lift out a sealed bag, removing the chance of breathing in any allergens.
It is also quieter, though it has a slight whine that can be annoying. Finally, we hooked each vacuum up to a sealed box with an anemometer mounted over the opening to measure the airflow each vacuum generated. Looking at this recorded airspeed, the Pet Hair Eraser got registered speeds of 1210 feet per minute of airflow, roughly an average measurement among the group. The Pet Hair Eraser doesn’t have a great attachment for cleaning the tops of baseboards.
You’ll need two hands to operate it—one hand to guide the canister and the other to push the vacuum itself—but we weren’t overly tired from doing this. While testing it at home, it was easy to use it while cleaning carpeted stairs. The vacuum’s cord is also generously long, so we were able to easily cover a large area without stopping to find a new outlet. Plus, the detached design of the Kenmore canister vacuum makes it super easy to fit underneath furniture, like couches and coffee tables. Most cordless vacuum cleaners lack the suction power to be effective as pet vacuums, but they are suitable for spot cleaning “accidents” and litter spills.
A 35-foot cord means you cover whole rooms without needing to unplug and replug, which means that in some single-story homes you can clean the entire place. The hose has an enormous 40-foot reach, making it easy to clean stairs and catch cobwebs in the corner of your rooms. Despite the size, Dyson’s famous ball design makes it nimble when moving around furniture.
It still left plenty of oats on both types of carpets and struggled to pull the fragments and dust from the carpet fibers. It holds its own against much more expensive and premium cleaning products standing up to tough messes and pet debris. The Pet Hair Eraser also did very well at cleaning off dried-on dirt and mud from a flat surface, matching the speed and efficiency of the top products. We used the upholstery tool for this test, which is somewhat oddly shaped and not ideal for small edges or corners.
Most cyclonic vacuums are bagless by design, but many canister and upright vacuums still use disposable bags. Many robotic vacuums can handle a moderate amount of pet hair, flea dust and dander, but they often lack the suction power of canister vacuums. Pet owners with robotic vacuum cleaners should be prepared to clean out the unit’s collection tray more often and spend time removing any hairs that collect on the bissell cordless vacuum agitator brushes. Sometimes big messes are unavoidable, and when you need a serious machine for a larger-than-average spill, this vacuum cleaner will do the trick. With a 40-foot cleaning radius and a 2-liter dust cup, the SmartClean Canister Vacuum is made for big jobs. Not only will it stretch to the farthest corners of each room, but it can cover any surface you need with its automatic floor type recognition.
The primary carpet head also has four levels, and there’s an adjustable suction level that came in handy while cleaning beige carpets at home. Some consumers may want to consider investing in a pet vacuum even if they do not own pets. These models are often more powerful than standard vacuum cleaners and include accessories not often included with traditional models.

The Bissell vacuum has a swivel head that enables me to pick up debris from hard-to-reach spots, and if it’s too tight of a squeeze, I simply pull out the attachments. Their fur clings to furniture and hides deep in my carpet where other vacuums haven’t been able to reach — until now. The CleanView has swivel steering, so it’s easy to maneuver around even semi-cluttered furniture layouts, but it didn’t have as tight of a turning radius as other models. It’s fairly easy to push or pull across most surfaces, but it can drag a bit on fluffier carpet.
