Coleman Sundome 6 Person Dome Tent 2000036889

Coleman also offers the Sundome 4, which we think is ideal for two campers and a dog. From within Coleman’s own lineup, we also like the Instant Cabin 6. Both tents can fit two queen-size air mattresses, feature a single door for entry and exit, and boast 6 feet of headspace. That said, the two Coleman tents differ in a few key areas.

Alternatively, you can save a few bucks by opting for a tarp, which can also be cut to size if the measurements aren’t a perfect fit. The coleman sundome 4 has a power cord vent to allow easy access for an electrical extension. In order to avoid these additional remote and/or special area delivery surcharges, you can supply us with an alternative delivery address to your billing address.

You shouldn’t expect this tent to last forever – after all, it’s a low-cost option. But there are some nifty extra features to help extend the life of this high-value tent. However, the Sundome doesn’t come with Coleman’s Dark Room Technology like some other Coleman tents which would make this dome-shaped tent even better in the summer. The bathtub floor that comes with welded corners and inverted should keep small rain showers out of the tent.

Stacked up against the Sundome, the Montana 6P is smaller with 84 square feet of floor area, shorter with a 68-inch peak height, and costs a little more at $117. Where the Montana gets the edge is livability with an included awning and taller side and end walls. Unfortunately, the lack of storage options continues to the exterior of the Sundome 6. Unlike most other camping tents, such as Kelty’s popular Discovery 6 model and its full-length rainfly, the Coleman’s partial design does not create any vestibule space. Typically, covered tent vestibules are a great place to store items like shoes, camp chairs, or anything else you’d like to keep out of the elements, but not so with the Sundome. This may not seem like a big issue as your car likely will be parked nearby, but we appreciate a good vestibule and it’s an unfortunate omission here.

Coleman is a trustworthy name in camping that has been around for many years. Their products are generally reliable and usable by anyone. In researching this we came across a user who had even used the tent successfully in snow – which is some really impressive durability and protection from a tent that won’t break the bank. This tent is also better suited to backpacking than the Sundome. There are plenty of other options to consider if the Coleman sundome doesn’t feel like the right tent for you.

Or for something a little different, check out the Coleman 4 person instant cabin tent review. The E-port makes it easy to bring your electronics with you by allowing space for an extension cord to weber charcoal grill enter the tent. Some users also found issues with the protective polyethylene (PE) flooring being damaged within a few uses. This was not an issue we found was consistent across online reviews.

The snag-free, continuous pole sleeves mean you only have to feed the poles once—shrinking setup time to just 10 minutes. The 9 ft. x 7 ft. floor fits four people, or one queen size airbed, and comes with a durable carry bag for easy transport. Set up camp in a compact, yet spacious tent with the Coleman® Sundome® 2-Person Dome Tent.

The generously proportioned sleeping area has good head height to make camping comfortable and the peaked porch over the large D-door provides protection whilst entering and exiting the tent. The mesh door and the rear mesh window with zip up cover allow for good air flow and ventilation. Storage pockets and a built in lighting loop help keep the tent organized. The 4-person version of the tent is affordable and easy to set up, making it a fantastic option for new campers.

I really wanted to recommend this as an affordable entry level tent. Outside of dry weather campouts in the backyard, there are better alternatives to be found. Although the Coleman Sundome does come with two pockets, buyers say it is barely enough to store anything.
