Philips explicitly states that there’s no need to lubricate the blades and foil of the Bodygroom 7000. However, I do use an electric shaver spray cleaner & lubricant every once in a while. After that, you can shake off the water and optionally pat everything with a cloth. I prefer to let the groomer air dry on the countertop with the flap open and the shaving head removed. The trimmer is fast and quite efficient at capturing and cutting the hairs, even though you will have to go over the flat-lying ones a few times.
The blade has the part number ER9500 and should be available in most countries. In my opinion that is a bit overkill and I personally only do it right before using the trimmer. And unless you’re extremely careful, the ER-GK60-S with the exposed blade can cut you. The groomer itself is pretty slim and lightweight compared to a Philips Bodygroom and this further improves the positive experience. The consequence of this design approach is that you can hold the trimmer in a very natural way with no stress on your wrist.
You can do so with all the attachments and guards and then just let them air dry. So it’s pretty much in a class of its own when it comes to battery life. If you’re serious about cutting your own hair, it’ll be worth investing in a dedicated hair clipper. I would strongly recommend against using the blade with no guard over sensitive areas like the genitals or armpits — it will cut you and it will be extremely painful.
The hairs would stick to the skin and lie completely flat, making it impossible for the trimmer to cut them. Well, I’m glad to say that these problems are gone with the BG7030/BG7040. It is really smooth and efficient and it takes me less time to shave compared to using other body groomers.
These units can frustrate if you’re mid-shave and they die out, so minimizing that with a unit with durability is definitely a plus. So, we tested the products by charging them fully and then running them till the battery died three times, to create an average battery life for each. Also, when showering right after trimming your groin, I recommend using warm or even lukewarm instead of hot water as that can also irritate the skin. You would still need to trim the hair carefully as any trimmer will cut you if you’re really pushing it, but the chances are a lot slimmer with these. With most groomers, that basically means using the trimming head with no guard/comb attached. For example, if you need a beard + body trimmer, the Philips Multigroom 7000 is one of the best options out there. And most of the current models will only work cordless and charging can take a lot of time. And you can also quick charge it for 5 minutes if the battery is completely drained — you’ll get just enough power for a quick trim.
The Bodygroom 7000 is fitted with a large Li-ion battery that’ll keep the trimmer going for almost 90 minutes. This makes holding and using this groomer more natural, especially when trimming the genital area and the armpits. First of all, they’re sturdy and glide very easily over the skin, even if it’s a bit damp. That said, you’ll mostly use a pulling motion as it’s far more effective and natural. It’s able to capture flat, curly hairs with the leading blade when you move the head against the grain. Then there’s the price of the trimmer itself — some are just way too expensive for what they offer.
