So you can imagine my surprise when I found my dream shade totally by happenstance—when testing Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Toast of New York for this review. A synthetic liquid oil that can replace mineral oil or silicone oils in the cosmetic formulas. There are different grades depending on the molecular weight ranging from very light, volatile, non-residue leaving ones to more substantial, slight residue leaving ones. Traditionally, UV-filters are categorized as either chemical or physical. The big difference is supposed to be that chemical agents absorb UV-light while physical agents reflect it like a bunch of mini umbrellas on top of the skin. While this categorization is easy and logical it turns out it’s not true.

Application is a bit tough as it tugs at my lips, but I was able to work around it. I’m not going to complain about it considering the cost of the lipstick. On me it turned a bit more fuschia (as most reds do), but still retained most of the wine shade. Best applied with a lip brush and a liner wouldn’t hurt, but also looks great straight from the tube.

It’s a natural peach shade and leaves you with a finish similar to that of a tinted lip balm. If you want to achieve a bold color, you’ll have to layer this up. It’s one shade that will look stunning on almost every skin tone.

First things first, I’m going to tell you that the texture revlon matte lipstick of this lipstick hasn’t let me down. It has a rich, moisturizing texture and is very comfortable to wear. It’s a great color, but I hated the finish and wear. It was too slippery and greasy, and the color migrated to the outside of my lips.
It leaves you with an opaque, glossy finish while adding a subtle sheen to your lips. This would be an ideal color for fair skin tones. This video will give you a better insight into the product. This shade and Revlon’s Black Cherry, are my go to vampy shades. It’s really buildable depending on how dark you want to go.
