It’s not just the sensors either—all of Wyze’s equipment (including its security cameras) delivers high quality for a low price. By paying $9.99 for monitoring every month, you also need to shoulder the equipment costs up front (starting around $75 for the Wyze Sense Hub, a 3-pack of entry sensors, and a keypad). But, if you choose the annual plan, you get the $29.99 hub for free and save about $20 per year on monitoring.
Plus, along with the basic security sensors, you can add on smart devices from Wyze. If you want Wyze cameras, a Wyze smart lock, or a Wyze smart bulb, then the Wyze Sense system is one more tool in your smart-home toolbox. More importantly, they can control your Wyze products through the Wyze app. You can set a motion sensor to turn on Wyze Light Bulbs or a contact sensor to turn on a Wyze plug. I plan to replace my original Wyze contact sensor in my Remote Control box with the newer sensor. When I open it, the sensor triggers my Wyze Plug connected to my entertainment system—turning everything on.

In my experience, though, it’s still a good choice for those who want clear, crisp 4K visual fidelity alongside other smart features. For a sleek, unobtrusive design, consider the Google Nest camera.

Those are the seven options available, so right off the bat, not super impressive. Wyze’s professional monitoring fee is $10 per month, compared to Simplisafe’s $28-per-month and Ring’s $20-per-month base plans. That starter pack was developed in partnership with Wyze and costs $99. You’ll also have the option for professional monitoring, which “offers immediate response from live U.S.-based agents when an alarm is triggered,” for $10 a month $100 a year.
Without CamPlus Pro, this tiny camera is still great for self-monitoring your property but doesn’t alert the police. The 1080p quality is clear yet won’t make out fine details like a tattoo. In testing, the response time between setting off the alarm and receiving a text message from the security call center was 15 seconds on average.
When I praised the original Wyze sensors, I said, “it couldn’t be easier to set up,” but it turns out I was wrong. Wyze managed to improve even that process by dumping the one pain point to the original sensors—the need for a sim card ejector tool. Before, you’d put the bridge in pairing mode and then press the sim card ejector tool into tiny holes in the sensors to put them in pairing mode. Then you’d instantly lose the tool and have to find a paper clip the next time you need to pair your sensors.
At $60 per year, Wyze’s professional monitoring will dispatch law enforcement if the security system goes into an alarm state. Ring outsources its professional monitoring, too; as you’ll see, however, Ring’s offering is more robust overall. You have to download the mobile app, create an account, and activate the service using the code that is sent to your email when you order the system.
Cameras assigned to Wyze Home Monitoring’s Security Camera list can only trigger an “alert”—a message delivered to you in the format you choose. You may select which Security Camera capabilities will trigger an alert. Clearly, this brand has something different to bring to the table, and as a working mom, I couldn’t help feeling a little giddy that all of this equipment was so inexpensive. That said, I soundly recommend Wyze Home Monitoring as a great choice for the budget-conscious, but if you’re looking for a system with greater protections, this might not be for you.
