Keurig K Classic Reviews: Our Expert Review of the Keurig K-Classic

Use a toothpick or paperclip and run it up into the needle and unclog the slot, rinse and reassemble and it should work correctly. I tried that a few months before and I had not luck BUT someone here (cant recall who) that the issue had to do with the K-cups receiving too much pressure when it initially gets punctured. Their solution was to manually insert the K-cup and to press it down until it’s punctured twice. But the second puncture should be 180 degrees from the first one. This has solved my problem every time but I’m still going to try removing the gasket as noted by the comment below from Rita on July 18th.

Both the models have a removable drip tray and a reservoir, auto-off features, are single-serve and are compatible with my k-cup. Keurig K-Classic and Keurig keurig iced coffee maker K-Express are two of the most popular single cup coffee makers on the market. Both are made by Keurig and they use the K-Cup technology to brew their coffee.

It has a fancy side-line button, and the opposite of this is a removable water reservoir. In between is a handle that smoothly lifts, and you can insert your k-cup pod into it. Best Quality Coffee, as our name suggests, is dedicated to bringing you the best in coffee products.

Our favorite Eco Descaler descaling powder is completely non-tox and eco-friendly. It’s made from citric acid which is food safe in moderate doses. Other descaling solutions may use caustic chemicals such as keurig elite coffee maker sodium hydroxide which is highly toxic, so please check the label if unsure. Descaling solution is generally an acidic chemical that is capable of dissolving mineral salts such as oxides and carbonates.

However, it is entirely possible that there were some malfunctioning models. If your coffee maker stops working, we do recommend getting in touch with Keurig as soon as possible. Keurig might be able to replace a malfunctioning coffee maker either free or at a small fee.

The K-Classic machine measures about 13 inches tall (17.6 inches tall with the latch open), 13 inches deep, and just shy of 10 inches wide. My Hamilton Beach coffee maker, by comparison, shaves about 3 inches off each of those dimensions and holds 12 cups of coffee. Those of you who have a tiny living space or, like me, have cluttered counter space should stay clear of this machine. For being a single-cup coffee maker, the K-Classic demands a ton of room. This being a Keurig machine, the K-Classic only accepts K-Cup pods to brew coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. These pods can run anywhere between $7 to $14 per 12-pack, the lower end being grocery chain branded pods and the higher end Starbucks branded.

Also, although the K Classic does produce 3 different brew sizes, this is using the same pod. So you’ll find that a 10oz cup of coffee made by a Keurig machine will not be as strong as an 8oz cup. But if you want a long, strong coffee you’ll need to use multiple pods, which can get very expensive very fast. Keurig k-classic can be perfect for those looking for fewer programmability features, simple and easy processing, fast brewing with a large reservoir, and multiple brew sizes.

I guess the Keurig must have some sort of built in safety feature that automatically shuts it off if it doesn’t detect a hole punctured in the bottom of the K-Cup. Just used a pair of pliers and just carefully bent the needle back up again so that it’s pointing upwards. Descaling every few months will extend the life of your expensive coffee machine, and massively improve the taste of your coffee. Yes, in fact, you can use all descaling products in any brand of coffee machine.
