Always present throughout the year if the soft and feathery moss that covers the rocks are covered in feathery moss – if looks particularly lush after rain. But more than that, there’s front and rear dynamo lights, so you never need worry about forgetting/neglecting to charge your lights. An internally geared hub goes a long way to weather proofing the drivetrain, as do the full housed gear cables that help stop dirt degrading your shifting performance. Genesis’s latest 2021 range seeks to build on this tendency, with most of the brand’s compact offering simply tweaked to make them more user-friendly. While many people will pretend to have liked something before it was cool, in the case of British brand Genesis, we’ll reserve our usual incredulity.

The Genesis™ bicycle rack features concentric rings that park bikes safely and securely. The Genesis™ offers two contact points, at front and rear, for locking. The unique design of the Genesis™ is both visually appealing and able to provide double the parking space of typical serpentine racks.. As with the Day One, there are mudguards, rear pannier rack, and an internally geared rear hub for all weather dependability. These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental team Madison Genesis.
The Tour de Fer is a steel touring-specific bike with a longer, stable wheelbase, and comes complete with mudguards and racks. The Genesis Tarn is a steel-framed short-travel hardtail with 120mm travel and 27.5in wheels, and is equipped with Maxxis Rekon tyres. Genesis produces bikes for all cycling disciplines, including road, mountain, cyclocross, gravel/adventure and commuting.
If you want more control over exactly what components your bikes is built with, both of these are available to buy as just the frameset. Despite being already expansive, the genesis bikes brand continues to grow, with the British company striking out even further to the gravel/adventure cross market. Finally, the Columbia Rd is a beautiful step-through with a low maintenance and practical 8-speed internal hubgear. Perfect for pootling around town, plus the twin top tube adds a touch of elegance. If you’re in the market for a more porteur-style bike, the Brixton is where Croix de Fer meets cargo.
It means less shifting, less weight (due to lack of front gears). As I mentioned with the Incline, the Boundary has this functionality. I don’t have to worry about destroying the frame of my bike if I hit the derailleur. Twist shifters tend to be a quick and easy way to tell the quality of a bike.
The V2100 is designed for moderate to intermediate trails and handles the bumps pretty well. That being said, it’s better to stick to trails with less gravel; you should switch genesis mountain bike out the tires if you plan on tackling trails with really gravelly surfaces. And while this bike is rugged, we wouldn’t want to perform more advanced riding, like slickrocking.
