Also using a ground cover under the tent (seems obvious to me) will help prevent water from coming in from the underside of the tent. If and when I buy a new tent, I will go with Ozark again, and will not buy it from walmart….if you watch a doc. Called “Walmart, the high cost of low prices” it will explain to you why the product there is so cheap. I don’t know that I would recommend it for a beginner who doesn’t know his way around a tent. Not the best, but certainly better than other shelters I’ve stayed in. You’re paying top dollar but you really do get a top product.
If you plan to use it during summer, you may want to consider taking advantage of its e-port to run a tent air conditioner. Finally, keep in mind that this is a single wall shelter, which means there’s a lot riding on the quality of the tent fabric and seams. Plenty of customers swear by the Ozark Trail Yurt’s waterproofing, but we recommend treating it with an extra DWR treatment and sealing any missing seams before putting it to work. Not only does that give privacy, but it also helps avoid waking people up when you’re moving in and out of the tent.

On the other hand, accessing the tent from the middle, or on the long side, gives one more degree of freedom. Assuming a symmetrical tent, like the Ozark Trail, my head could be placed at either end and both options would feel equally comfortable. In fact, my particular tent spot wasn’t completely flat so I quickly rotated my sleeping bag so that my feet weren’t above my head all night. It was pretty easy to make adjustments from the side door access.
In addition, we thought some of the plastic pieces on the Pivot Xplore felt a bit flimsy—though they held up during our months of testing. For adjusting the height of this model, there is a push switch system that is designed to make things as easy as possible for the user. It’s typically used by families, couples, or groups of friends going to outdoor events, but we can see it being used for more commercial purposes. Even though it technically can, we think you should have a second person there to help out with the set up.
