This basic, 10×10 cathedral tent blocks the sun almost as well as more expensive models, and it is sturdy enough to handle the wallops that come along with average outdoor adventures. This model is much lighter than its beefier peers, but it still incorporates a steel frame that is sturdy enough to handle a few moderate wind gusts. We found the Caravan perfect for trips to the lake, activities in the park, or backyard barbeques, ideally in calmer weather. However, a little extra care is key if you want your Caravan to last. The Caravan V-Series scores a bit lower and also isn’t as beefy as more expensive models, but feels roomy and is easy to move around thanks to a lower weight. All three of these cathedral-style models offer three height settings.

To be sure it fits properly, we always tell readers to verify compatibility specs before buying the substitute cover for your tent. The Coleman 13×13 canopy cover is made with a khaki-colored 150D polyester that provides a distinct shelter with its UPF 50+ UV Guard material. It filters out over 99% of ultraviolet coleman canopy rays that can damage skin, especially important for people sensitive to sunlight or those exposed to it for extended durations. Its guaranteed coverage offers worry-free beach trips and helps you focus on creating special moments with family and friends without being concerned about UV radiation.

It takes just three minutes and three steps to set up the shelter for 63 sq. The lightweight, telescoping poles with ergonomically-designed comfort grips make it easy for anyone to set it up. The welded steel feet also keep the shelter stable on concrete and asphalt. Once it’s up, the canopy’s UVGuard™ material offers 50+ UPF protection—blocking most of the sun’s dangerous rays. When the fun is done, the compact frame folds down quickly into a wheeled, easy-to-carry bag that fits inside most cars. The Pacific Breeze Easy Up is a beach tent with a half-dome design and enough space to shade one or two adults.

With its blend of user-friendly features, strong and sturdy design, and highly-capable sun and rain resistance, this canopy sets a high standard in outdoor gear. Our favorite features include the roof vents that keep air circulating even as the outside temperature rises, and the extended eaves that provide 70% more shade than traditional tents like EZ-Up. At its current price of $150, it is the best value with the most amount of shade coverage you’ll be able to find. Refunds are issued to the original form of payment, unless returned in store

The Tagalong and Caravan V-Series scored slightly lower than our top scorers, but they still have straightforward setup processes. Setup for both is simple; however, they scored lower because of additional variants that affect the overall ease of the process. The aluminum poles are quite long and awkward to maneuver, and it takes extra time to slide them through the fabric sleeves and bow them into place. These pins are a little harder to use, especially during takedown, and they have a greater likelihood of pinching the skin.

This metric pertains to a shelter’s ability to offer protection from sun, wind, and rain. Some canopies perform well in one or two of these areas, but we gave the highest scores to those that could expertly handle all three functions. We even gave extra points to canopies that also protected against bugs.

The Pacific Breeze Easy Up didn’t score as highly here, but we were impressed with its ability to handle the wind. Its stiff frame doesn’t bend or sway during heavy breezes, and it stays put as long as it’s staked down or weighted by its five built-in sandbags. It does hike the price up quite a bit, but it is worth it if you know you’ll be using it a lot in the sun.

We also noted special features, like quick-release levers, that make setup easier. The Eurmax Standard 10×10 is very functional, followed closely by the E-Z Up Pyramid, Clam Outdoors Quick-Set Escape, and Eureka Tagalong Shelter. All four of these models maximize space and offer several features that make them very livable. The Quick-Set Escape offers a massive, fully enclosed living space, and the Eureka Tagalong dons extra pockets, hooks, and attached sandbags. The center trusses on the Eurmax hang lower than we would prefer, limiting the available amount of headspace, but this is our only caveat. If your budget is tight, the Pacific Breeze Easy Up is an inexpensive beach canopy that provides the essentials for a quick, hassle-free setup but may not be built to endure many summers of use.
