If you’re camping near your vehicle then it’s no big deal, but if you’re going to do a bit of hiking before you set up camp, then make sure you’re mindful of the weight of the canopy tent.
The tent roof is made of polyester taffeta treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating. The walls are made of fine no-see-um nylon mesh edged with polyester taffeta. This polyester material is less susceptible to UV damage than the nylon that previous versions of this tent incorporated, but it generally has a feel that is not quite as soft.

The Screen House Shelter packs into a reasonably roomy drawstring bag with a strap that makes the canopy tent much easier to transport than tents, like the L.L.Bean, that lack a strap. The size of this tent and the mesh-covered vestibule are great for a family. Four people and furry friends will easily fit with some extra room leftover. Storage is a problem with this tent, however, because it only comes with two pockets but because the vestibule isn’t properly protected from the rain. Likewise, should your family be stuck in the tent during a storm, there is no way to cook unless you do so completely inside the tent, which is never a good idea.
Weather is uncertain and you never know how annoying bugs will be. It’s better to be prepared than to let something unexpected ruin your weekend. If you’re solo camping, you don’t need a canopy to fit eight people; it’ll just add extra unnecessary weight. If you’re camping with your family then you want to make sure the canopy is large enough to fit everyone. Camping is a blast, and a great way to get in touch with nature.
