Coleman Instant Tent

The Coleman Instant Up Tent material is pulled tight around the corner points at the top and our tent is showing wear and tear. Our tent already has two small holes just big enough for a small bug to get in. However, we have used it at eight different campgrounds and two campgrounds had high winds. So, I’m sure that was a contributing factor to the wear and tear. Unfortunately, the package that the tent comes in (134cm L x 24cm W x 24cm H) was too long to fit the width of our Mitsubishi ASX’s boot. But it did fit in long-ways if we folded down one of the back seats.

I have had tents previously, ones which were larger too, that have had little ventilation and felt extremely hot and uncomfortable waking up in once the sunrise had heated up the tent. We also never once batted an eye lid at the wind – the tent always felt sturdy and secure. Also, coleman camping chair if you’re expecting any rain at all, you do need to seal this inverted seam. When you wake up, you can open all the window and door mesh panels, and get plenty of ventilation through all these massive mesh panels, so it doesn’t feel too stuffy in the tent during the day.

However, we’re Costco members, and Costco sells a different, affordable Coleman tent every year. Therefore, we decided we’d just keep buyin’ ‘em, wreckin’ ‘em and tradin’ ‘em in until Costco wises up and changes its return policy. In the end, the Coleman Instant Tent 6 is adequately comfortable. It’s not fancy, it’s not innovative, and it doesn’t set a new standard.

For pros, I found the Coleman 10-Person Instant Tent much easier to set up than regular 10-person tent, taking anywhere between 30 to 90% less time. However, I wouldn’t say that Coleman has the best instant tent mechanism, at least for this tent. Sometimes, one of the elbow joints of the poles would jam and won’t prop up properly, and I’d have to fold it back up and try to prop it back up again.

The Coleman Instant Cabin makes getting camp set up quicker and easier than ever. This instant tent has pre-attached poles that make setting up camp as simple as unfolding, extending, and securing. You can assemble the tent in about a minute and then get started on your adventure. This camping tent is designed with the WeatherTec system that features patented welded floors and inverted seams to help ensure you stay dry if it starts to rain. An integrated vented rainfly offers added protection from the rain and improves airflow without the need for extra assembly.

As long as the weather cooperates, you won’t have a problem, but if the forecast calls for much rain, you’ll want to look elsewhere for either a tent or a drier place to go camping. If you’re already reaching for your credit card, just itching to get your hands on the Instant Tent 6, you might want to skip this section. The biggest issue we had with this tent is its severely inadequate rain fly. It really only covers the top of the tent, venturing meagerly down the sides, and leaving most of the walls vulnerable to the elements. During our camping trip, we used the ground stakes for the base of the poles, and did not bother with the attached ropes. But when it’s raining, the rainfly provides very little rain protection, because it’s quite small (and its main purpose is to protect only the ceiling mesh). On top of that, the tent body slants outwards a bit, so the water drips onto the window coleman camping chair or door mesh directly. The Instant Tent 6 is set up pretty well for windy conditions. The thick, sturdy poles, give it strength, but the bending, jointed corners can be compromised in moderate to heavy wind. That said, as long as you stake the Instant Tent down and make use of the guy lines to anchor the tent to the ground or close trees, it holds up just fine.
