We just did our best to crumple it up and use the two straps provided to tie everything together and stuff the tent back into the bag. It’s really is easy and quick, even for one person to put it up and pack it down on their own. I’m about 5’3″ (63 inches) tall, so I could stand up almost everywhere inside this Coleman Cabin Tent, except for the 4 corners. The tent is made from 150D polyester and you can see the seam seals all the way around. The tent has plenty of windows for air circulation and did an excellent job in keeping the bugs out while allowing the cool evening breeze to flow through. The tent also features two interior pockets perfect for keeping your phone, flashlight, or mp3 players. For an 8 Person tent, perhaps two additional pockets would be a nice touch. Each tent comes with a zip up bag which has a very handy printed instruction sheet sewn into the seam – the tents are so easy to erect and dismantle you probably won’t need to refer to it after your first time out.

Nobody likes being stepped over or having to step over others for a late-night bathroom trip. Windows or a door on all sides, pop-out vents on the top, and a ground vent in the back keep the air moving and temperatures reasonable inside the tent. While many tents of this size include some form of vestibule to keep your shoes or other gear out of the tent, but also out of the elements, the Instant 6, does not. It’s refreshing to see a product like the Coleman 4-Person Cabin Tent with Instant Setup with such clear strengths and weaknesses. The four man and six man versions come with a single door, whereas the 8 man has a double door to open wide, useful if camping on the beach.

Also, I noticed a pretty big pool of water from the zipper of the hinged D-door at about 30 minutes of light rain (so maybe it started leaking at around 15 minutes in). Durable waterproof floor features welded corners and floor seams with no needle holes to prevent leaks and an inverted tub floor seam keeps water from seeping in.

The seam tape wasn’t very well applied around some of the windows, so it kind of blocks the zipper, and makes it less smooth and more snaggy than it would have been. The pole structure is also very simple, and there are only 6 guylines in total for such a large tent. I tried to make sure that the zippers were protected by this yellow rain cover thing on the outside, but it seems to be soaked with water, and made the leaking worse.

This meant we could have playtime inside the tent when it rained or the mosquitoes came out. I’m very impressed with how quick and easy it is to put up such a large tent. Once the Coleman Instant Up Tent is out of it’s carry bag, it takes two minutes to fold out and pop up. Meaning the frame and inner tent is fully assembled in less than three minutes! However, it does take another ten minutes (or so) to pull the fly over the frame and peg it all down.
