The convertible Twin to King EasyStay 4-N-1 Airbed earned top scores for its great puncture resistance. This model in particular stood out among competitors in our Lab tests with no overnight leakage after 170 pounds of weight were applied to the mattress for 24 hours. Plus, it impressed our testers, who called it “more comfortable to sleep on” than other air beds they’ve tried, coleman sleeping bag but they noted that the brand’s pump was a little too loud when inflating the mattress late at night. Serta’s air mattresses have performed well in our evaluations, standing out as one of the top performers in puncture resistance tests. This model also inflates and deflates relatively quickly, with the Queen-size style taking just shy of two and a half minutes to fully inflate.
The company recommends using its 120V or rechargeable air pump to inflate the air mattress. This Coleman is made of PVC, which is a pretty standard material found in air mattresses. According to the company, it is lab-tested to make sure it is leak-free. Side sleeping on the Coleman air mattress, of course, there is going to be some pressure on the shoulders and hips. That being said, it is not extremely uncomfortable side sleeping on the Coleman and, paired with some plush bedding or sleep bag, it could be a good fit for some.
We did not have a large pump on hand and had to use a standard rechargeable pump. This is a taller, more substantial air mattress, so it took over 20 minutes to fully inflate the mattress and, what’s more, we had to recharge the pump halfway through the inflation process. This is the first thing we consider when we are putting an air mattress to the test – how fast does it inflate and how easy is it to do so?
Ideally, store it in a dry, cool location, either in a sturdy container or the provided storage bag. According to SoundAsleep, you can clean your air mattress with water and a mild soap solution and let it air-dry. During the testing, I thought the King Koil model came closest to mimicking the feel of a real coil mattress. At about 17 pounds, it was light enough to move around and inflated fully in just under 3 minutes.
We also like that the SoundAsleep comes in five sizes (including full and twin XL), compared with the King Koil, our runner-up, which comes in only three. The SoundAsleep is easier to carry than others we’ve tested (weighing just under 19 pounds) and has a quieter internal high-capacity pump than the King Koil—a plus if you need to inflate without waking the whole household. The company says it takes about 4½ minutes for the mattress to reach the maximum fill level, but for us, it inflated to its full height of 18 inches in just under 4 minutes. The King Koil Luxury Air Mattress (20-inch) was comfortable to sleep on and, like our top pick, holds air overnight without needing to be re-inflated. In our experience, Coleman does produce some nice air mattresses with quality features.
