If it doesn’t suit my needs, one of my daughters would be able to use it. It’s a working document that I update from time to time. I never carry bear spray and only used a bear canister once in the High Sierras of California where it was required. I use a bag for food and tie it in a tree, but mainly to keep the little critters out.
For this review, I spent almost a full workday sitting in the chairs I tested, and took note of how comfortable each chair seemed. I then considered the weight of each one and how well they packed or stored for traveling or hiking purposes. Size is perfect for day trips, smaller individuals, and teens. Great for hiking in warm weather, thanks to the breathable construction, mesh straps, and hydration bladder hook up.
Assuming a symmetrical tent, like the Ozark Trail, my head could be placed at either end and both options would feel equally comfortable. In fact, my particular tent spot wasn’t completely flat so I quickly rotated my sleeping bag so that my feet weren’t above my head all night. It was pretty easy to make adjustments from the side door access. End-door access would have made it more difficult. This pack fits me fine and is very comfortable for lightweight loads. I use it as a day pack when doing multi-day hikes.
In the following paragraphs I share just a few design features that, in my opinion, make this a well-designed product. A great pack for day hikes, hunting and weekend camping. There are circumstances that are out of control (natural disasters, holidays, weather, etc) that may cause shipping postponements. Tents, hammocks or open-air camping — you can do it all according to your comfort level. Just be prepared to face changing weather conditions out in the wilderness. By default, this unexpectedly ended up being my go-to ozark trail canopy daily bag for several months. It’s been stuffed to capacity with almost everything I had to carry, including, but not limited to, outerwear, lunch, groceries, laptop, iPad, a Bose speaker, and combinations thereof.
More than once in the dark I’ve attached a rain fly upside down and we had to restart that particular step. This tent was close to foolproof when it came to the rain fly because it was already connected. Not the best choice for long trips or hikers who need to carry a large amount of gear. If you need a large pack, or are heading on a days-long adventure, this pack won’t work for you.

Some days this bag was heavier than I would have chosen it to be. However, it took a pretty good beating and has held up. I backpack in the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada.
