I priced other internal frame daypacks before my trip and this was by far the cheapest. I took this pack on a 5-day mountain bike ride from Pittsburgh, Pa., to Washington, D.C., and it performed very well. Trailspace’s community of gear reviewers has field-tested and rated the top daypacks. Of course it has no side water holsters, or lid pocket, or hipbelt strap, but I think that all contributes to its low weight.

We like that this pack has a lot of pockets including a zipper that allows you to access the middle of the pack without opening the top. In essence, I had committed to the permanent rainfly option by default and there was a certain contentedness that came with that. But if you’re just looking for a comfortable rocker to go on the porch of your cabin, weight probably isn’t a consideration. In fact, you’ll probably want a chair on the heftier side that has more cushion and durability. And while you can buy multiple of the other options for the total price of this chair, none of them come close to packing down like the Chair One. So while the initial price might seem steep, its versatility and Helinox’s 5-year warranty make it an appealing option.
