Mendocino E-Bike Adult Cruiser Electric Bike

Considering the relatively low price point aftermarket lights are something that could be added easily later on. Powering this bike is a 26.6 volt 10 amp hour battery pack that uses Lithium Polymer cells. For the time period it was released, this was a pretty awesome battery and that shines true today with bikes still on the road.

Even at level 3 assistance, my pedals are free spinning in 7th gear. The only time you’ll ever need to balance power output would be if you were planning on doing an entire 20 miles without charging. For commuters and schwinn road bike people who run errands, that’s not always going to be the case. 7-speed drivetrain with trigger shifter lets you adapt to your terrain with ease, while mechanical disc brakes deliver all weather stopping power.

Stroll through streets or mountains with the Schwinn Healy Ridge 26 in E-Bike. The tool-free adjustable seat post allows you to customize the height for optimal comfort when riding, and the 1.95-inch wide wire bead tires provide strong grip and stability on the trail. All that, plus the six-pound Toshiba battery housed behind the seat, makes the bike quite heavy, and, in some ways, a bit clunky feeling to move around when you’re not riding it. Where an average bike weighs about 35 pounds, the Tailwind, as we mentioned, weighs 58 pounds. Of course — this bike does a lot more than your average bike, and its weight is actually fairly low for electric bikes (plus, we’re huge wimps).

Easily recharge in as little as 4 hours with a standard household outlet and the included charging cable. For comparison, my main bike — the REI Co-op Cycles CTY 2.1 — is bigger and weighs schwinn electric bike just over 30 pounds. The added weight makes the Monroe a pain to lug into my basement for storage. Fortunately, when riding, I can’t tell that it weighs more than my other bikes.

It works by spinning the back wheel, creating the feeling of being pushed. A mid-drive motor powers the bike’s drivetrain instead of the wheel hub. This style creates a natural sensation that one would typically feel while riding a bike. Most Schwinn e-bikes feature a hub drive motor because it requires little to no maintenance. In the event a replacement is needed, the motor is easy to replace as part of the wheel. The Schwinn Tailwind uses a Shimano eight-speed gearset in the rear hub, its limited gear ratio making the bike mostly suitable for flat areas.

Some of the added weight is attributed to the battery, which checks in at about six pounds. As mentioned above, you do have to start pedaling to engage the electric assistance though you don’t have to schwinn mountain bike pedal much to approach max speeds. Nonetheless, I wish there was a way to zip around town without having to pedal at all. Despite my desire to only bike for exercise, I do admit I get lazy sometimes.

It was such a joy to ride around and truly turned me in favor of e-bikes (something I never thought possible). Instead of fumbling with it myself, I go to my favorite local bike shop, Spin Bicycle Shop, in Lansing, Michigan. For $70, the shop put my new Schwinn e-bike together and offered to make any tweaks after I rode it for a little bit. We do not cover parts purchased and labor performed by another bike shop.
