It’s exceptional at capturing particles—on a par with our large-space pick, the Blue Pure 211i Max—and competitively priced, but it lacks some of the liveability features we value. It’s louder than the 211i Max, consumes considerably more electricity, and lacks smart capability. Although we believe that most people are likely to be happy with a purely analog purifier, if you’re keen on smart appliances, then this model is worth considering. That said, in most parts of the country, simply opening your windows every few days is an effective way to flush out any VOCs. You can place your Honeywell HEPA air purifier in any space where you need fresh, clean air. For example, you can use it in the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, basement, or family room.
Then the HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter takes care of 99.97% of microscopic airborne allergens and particles, including dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mite debris, and smoke. Both the built-in control screen and the app show the real-time levels of airborne particulates in three size classes (1, 2.5, and 10 microns, roughly corresponding to smoke, dust, and pollen). This is standard info in an air quality monitor, but it’s something we’ve rarely seen integrated into a purifier. The app also lets you remotely monitor and adjust the operating settings.
The 2nd got rid of the smoke, but not as much of the smell. We have also removed from this list many since-discontinued models we tested. Some units had fan issues (but they seem to be resolved).
This purifier is terrific overall, but it has minor shortcomings, including a stark look, no display shutoff, and slightly elevated electrical use. Perfect for bedrooms, playrooms, and living rooms, this purifier is one of the highest-performing, most-durable, and most-economical models we’ve tested. Better indoor air quality starts with precision detection and monitoring.
