The lid doesn’t latch shut, but you get a telescoping handle and a drainage spout inside, which is more than I can say for cheap coolers like the Igloo Island Breeze and the Rubbermaid Ice Chest. The Xtreme also offers ample room for your beer, claiming a capacity of 50 quarts. Even better, that capacity came in at a bigger-than-advertised 58.1 quarts when I filled it with water to double-check.

Take on any terrain with the RTIC 52 QT Ultra-Light Wheeled Cooler. This lightweight and strong premium cooler features up to 2.5’’ of closed cell foam insulation, puncture-proof all-terrain wheels, an ergonomic handle, and locks in the cold for up to 5 days. It’s from Pelican, and it comes in an impressive variety of color options, but the performance wasn’t as strong as other comparable options. Still, it’s worth it if you just want the best performance for the price. Simply put, the Yeti clobbered the competition in our tests.

It’s the only cooler we tested that has an actual weight limit listed for it lb. To put that to the test, we had our 225 lb tester jump on every cooler, and the Coleman was no exception. Though it doesn’t have the same rock-solid feel that many of the rotomolded coolers have, the Coleman seemed to have no problem being an impromptu trampoline. If you treat the Coleman Xtreme nicely, you may be able to get a bit more life out of it, but if you’re rough on your gear, this cooler probably isn’t the right choice for you. The first flaw easily noticeable is the thin, flimsy hinges. As the lid overextends, you can hear the screws ripping right out of the plastic.

For longer trips or extended outdoor stays, consider our dual zone fridge/freezers. A mobile lifestyle used to mean a limited diet as well as reduced device connectivity, but not with a BougeRV portable refrigerator. Keep the meals and refreshments you want always within reach.
