E-bike and e-scooter riders must follow the rules of the road by looking after pedestrians, adhering to signage and driving in the correct direction. The new bikes and scooters will be an advantage for students with long treks across campus said sophomore architecture major Shane Harris. With Japanese motors, Taiwan-made frames and U.S. assembly, the bikes largely bypass the recently imposed tariffs on Chinese-made e-bikes and other bike products.

I note all this though to show that I am not only a “bike-friendly” person, but support non-motorized vehicle use; in fact, I wish we’d get more support, tolerance, etc., because it is prudent if not environmentally smart.

When I moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, to be near my CrossFit gym, I noticed several well-known MTB trails in the area. No longer a teenager, I purchased a custom-made name-brand MTB from a local bike shop and rode the forks off it—literally. Kent State University partners with SPIN to provide shared eBikes and eScooters that are available on campus and within the City of Kent for use by students, faculty, staff, and the community. Riding an eBike or an eScooter is a fast, easy way to get from class to class, run errands, and even a short commute.
But while Walmart is known for its super cheap e-bikes, the company has never offered higher-end e-bikes with nicer features like mid-drive motors. At least, not until now with the launch of Kent’s new mid-drive electric bike. Kent’s Electric Cruiser has plenty of limitations, but it’s doubtful the people buying this bike will care too much. This is a purely recreational bike for parents to keep up with their sugar-fueled kids on neighborhood rides or for couples getting a little exercise on their local rail trails. If that’s what you’re looking for, the Kent Electric Cruiser will make both you and your wallet happy.
