In 1975, he founded a bike shop in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. His specialty was building touring bikes for trails and dirt roads. In 1978, Kent began building his own custom frames for balloon tires with multiple gears and cantilever brakes. Kent’s invention of the “Moot’s Mount”, an adjustable cantilever brake stud patented in 1980 led to the development of the Moot’s Mountaineer bicycle. This bike went on to win the first NORBA Off-Road National Championships in Solvang, Califonia.

I didn’t think some junky would pinch my bike in the couple of minutes I was in the store. I know nothing about you, but I can make a guess. I’m not sticking around to see if that guess is right, I’ll be long gone with my bike by the time you read this note.

I’m retired, I have three perfectly good bikes and to be honest, one would really do just fine for the riding I’m doing these days. So it really hasn’t changed my life that much.
