Collectible Tobacco Estate Pipes Peterson Manufacturing for sale

Whether you’re browsing for your very first pipe or are a seasoned collector in search of a rare gem, know that every pipe in our catalogue carries with it that same preservation of tradition. A Peterson pipe isn’t just a utilitarian tool; it’s a piece of history you can carry with you in your travels, a faithful companion to accompany you through all that life offers. The P-Lip mouthpiece, or P-Lip tip, is a unique stem that directs smoke toward the palate, resting on top of the tongue.

The pipes in this range are amongst the best and most select briars that Peterson produce. They vary in price from the Grafton, Rosslare Royal Irish and Silver Spigots starting at around $250. To the slightly more expensive Silver Caps and Lids, Plato, Royal Irish and Celtic Naturals and on up to $800 plus for Gold spigots. The pipe was in need of some restoration, as its original stem was missing.

One particular aspect of this pipe that appeals to me most is its physical beauty and presence. For me, they also offer a bowl capacity that I like and a balance in the hand that I appreciate. They are well named Deluxe s for giving that special experience.

All Peterson Standard series pipes are fitted with army-style mouthpieces and have nickel mounts. The patented Peterson System traps the moisture in the pipe which results in a dry smoke every single time. Peterson Standard System tobacco pipes have been wildly popular with both enthusiasts and new smokers for decades. While crafting quality, innovative tobacco pipes has been central to our brand, we understand the importance of possessing smoking accessories of the same calibre. From pipe pouches to rustic tampers and sleek lighters, our accessories complement our tradition of craftsmanship, each tailored to pair elegantly with our pipes. The famous P lip stem incorporated into the system pipes mouthpiece directs the smoke flowthrough a small hole at the top of the stem to the roof of the mouth.

Armed with an imaginative flair for pipes and a craftsman’s background, Peterson not only proved himself correct, but became the third partner in the fledgling firm. Perhaps the most notable design from the Kapp and Peterson factory was Peterson’s famed ‘Dry System’ pipes, patented in 1894. Featuring a small reservoir intended to collect moisture before it reaches the smoker, the System Pipe makes for a cool smoke that minimizes tongue bite and the “disgusting juice” that is the bane of every pipe smoker.

Then, recently, they added a bunch of the previously Dunhill-branded tobaccos, like My Mixture 965, Nightcap, Early Morning, Elizabethan Mixture, De Luxe Navy Rolls, Peterson Flake, and The Royal Yacht Pipe Tobacco. These are all in addition to their classic lines like Sweet Killarney, Sunset Breeze, Irish Flake, Peterson 3 P’s, and more. Enjoy some of the most legendary tobaccos ever made with Peterson. Peterson believed that a man’s smoking pipe was a signature piece of his individual style, and peterson pipes are still made with this idea in mind today.

I also enjoy how tactile these pipes are, they snuggle in beautifully in the hand. With the pipes being so big I would imagine they will not be to everyone’s taste. My own view is somewhat biased, the Darwins were probably tailor made with me in mind!! I find them brilliant smokers, the bowls never heat up, because they are so large and the shape is so very comfortable for longer periods of smoking. Personally I give them a slight edge over the Mark Twains in that department.

During the 1970’s Peterson had a large display of pipes in the Shannon Airport Duty Free Shop for passengers.
