The 6 Best Canopy Tents of 2024 Tested & Rated

During our testing, our Base Camp shrugged off both a rainstorm and a desert windstorm as if they were nothing. Despite losing some headroom in comparison with the Kelty Wireless 6 and The North Face Wawona 6, both of which measure six-foot-four in height, the Base Camp 6 offers a substantial six-foot-two. Like our couples’ tent pick, the Wireless 6 is a dome-shaped tent with a tried and true two-pole design.

To prepare your game for the challenge of Ozarks National, the greens are all situated above or below the hitting area, similar to what you will see out on the course. Take the opportunity to relax and enjoy this fun extra par 3 at the base of a giant limestone rock wall featuring flowing waterfalls. Or challenge your buddies to a friendly closest-to-the-pin contest to decide who is paying for the post-round refreshments.

I purchased Model #WT98010R and I’ve had it for 2 years and have put it up probably 6 times. This summer I had it up in the backyard after a birthday party for several days and one of the poles broke during a bad storm while I was at work. I will return it to the place of purchase for a full refund and I’ll purchase another brand and I will let all my camping friends and every campground I go to about ur crappy products and service.

It has everything you need for three-season camping, with the bonus of being light enough to double as an occasional backpacking tent. Although it’s designed to accommodate three people—hence the “3” in its name—we found that at 42.5 square feet, the tent is more comfortable for two, plus gear and maybe a medium-size dog. Made from rugged materials like polyester and powder-coated steel, this screen house is built to withstand various weather conditions.

But with a ceiling that’s 6 inches lower, it feels smaller and darker. It always cost more than our top pick, but the price has gone up another $150 since we first tested it. Kalee Thompson is an editor covering health, fitness, baby, and kid gear. She has personally tested a dozen tents and an equal number of hair dryers. I borrowed this screen tent and thought it was a pain to put up…the center hub broke forcing me to duck tape it to keep it together.

The continuous curve of the dome shape allows for wind to pass over and around it. You can also get a nice cross breeze going by leaving the vestibules open. On sunny days and clear nights, take off the fly and enjoy the sky through the tent’s clear mesh canopy. Some testers, though, thought the tent was stuffy when the fly was fully closed and the sun was out. Our only quibble with the Mineral King 3 is that it comes with only six stakes.

In our tests one camper took less than 10 minutes to put it up on the first try. Two shorter aluminum poles cross to support the roof while four longer poles join to the roof poles at the top of the tent and slide into pegs at the ground. The tent roof is made of polyester taffeta treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating. The walls are made of fine no-see-um nylon mesh edged with polyester taffeta.

I was impressed by the 12.0 lb packed weight, which, as it turns out, is a good thing since the tarp can easily withstand some heavy wind. However, there’s one glitch that almost ruined our camping trip. One of the poles ozark trail canopy was screwed into the wrong part of the connector piece, causing the tent to collapse repeatedly until we figured it out. We didn’t expect such an issue with a product that otherwise seems well-designed and durable.
