Genesis Bicycles

The frame is fully carbon and the cables are integrated into the frame for a cleaner look and better aerodynamics. As the name suggests, these are bikes that are designed for the explicit purpose of riding on the road. Some are more race oriented, meaning mudguard and pannier mounts are forgone and the geometry is longer and lower. Others have more of an endurance focus, better suited to long rides and have all the mounts you need for light cycle-touring.

There has been much talk about the Alpitude and the clear design ethos behind it, which was to make a bike that you could… An impressive fork at this price point and sensible kit are great and the wheels finish the package off nicely but the main attraction genesis bike here is the geometry. Once rolling the true nature of the Genesis started to shine through, a lively agile ride that encourages you to push on and flick the bike through singletrack whilst looking for roots and rocks to bunny hop and pop off.

The battery powering this bike delivers ~36 volts of power and 9 amp hours of capacity. That’s kind of average and the pack is a bit heavier than some equivalent designs because it uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry vs. Lithium Manganese or Lithium Cobalt. The pack is kind of large and you can actually upgrade it to be even larger if you want, just be careful over large bumps given the limited strength of just one pair of support struts vs. higher end ProdecoTech bikes. The greatest restriction on how fast you can go when pinning singletrack is the tyres, yes they are fast rolling but they lack bite, something with greater cornering grip would certainly show off bikes handling better. At around 27lbs the Core weighs in somewhere in the middle of the scale that you would expect for a 120mm trail blaster but it feels nippy and easy to spin up to speed thanks to the lightweight rims and fast rolling tyres. The wheelset is lightweight with an internal rim width of 19mm that will take good sized rubber which means you could add some float to the ride with some high volume tyres. The Core 26.4 came fitted with 2.2 Mountain Kings, the originals not the much improved Mountain King II. Over ten years the range expanded beyond commuter bikes to include road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes.

These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental team Madison Genesis. The frame has internally routed cables for better aerodynamics and a wide section genesis bike down tube for better torsional stiffness. The aero features of more expensive bikes are present, with cables are routed internally and the leading edges of the frame are smoothly rounded.

Plus, the lightweight alloy wheels add to the bike’s speed and agility. The matte black finish with neon accents is sure to turn heads on any trail. Front disc and rear linear pull handbrakes keep your speed under control, while the overstuffed springer style saddle and rise handlebars give the rider a comfortable and upright riding position. When full, these same concentric rings park bikes safely and securely. The Genesis™ offers two contact points, at front and rear, for locking. The unique concentric design of the Genesis™ bike rack helps guide bikes into proper parking position while providing double the parking space of typical serpentine racks. They include five flat bar ‘Day One’ models, the singlespeed drop bar Flyer and seven hardtail mountain bikes. Sitting somewhere in the middle was the Vapour – a cyclo-cross bike that would occupy our thoughts around bikes that can go further… There are, however, a number of points that make this a more versatile bike than the carbon alternative.

This bike is designed for lightweight bike-packing, able to tackle ultra-distances on mixed terrain. The Fugio is a rowdier bike than the Croix de Fer, more suited to playing around on the trails and using the bumps as a platform to get some air. The dropper seatpost, slacker head angle, shorter chainstays and clearance for tyres up to 50mm wide on 650b wheels are responsible for this more playful handling. These bikes are designed for longer days out being able to handle heavier loads and rougher roads.

The Core range is based around a 6061 aluminium tube set that is butted where needed with some gentle manipulation to ovalise the down tube as it meets the seat tube at the bottom bracket shell. There are strengthening gussets where the down tube and top tube meet the tapered head tube and the seat stays are an old school wishbone style, the lack of a bridge gives ample mud clearance. Genesis bikes offer an array of unique features, some of which include advanced braking systems, easy gear shifting, and lightweight frames, which make these bikes a favorite among riders. Furthermore, the innovative design of these bikes allows for customization, giving riders the ability to tailor their bikes to their specific needs.
