Kent 20” Torpedo ebike

Retailing for under $700 (around £515/AU$970), the Kent Electric Cruiser was created for them. Our Prices range from less than £500 right up to our exquisite carbon-frame e-bikes at £10000. Please remember our online prices for electric bicycles are the best in and around Kent, actually in the UK! You are welcome to take advantage of our price promise if you locate any model cheaper elsewhere.

Nicer (i.e., more expensive) e-bikes tend to use fancier mid-drive motors like those made by Brose, Bosch, Yamaha, and other major German or Japanese manufacturers. The Electric Cruiser offers three levels of electric assist, with a maximum boost of 20 mph. A very basic LED display indicates battery and power-assist levels but doesn’t include a speedometer or mileage counter. The Kent Electric Cruiser is a very pretty bike, with the removable Samsung lithium-ion battery integrated into the frame.

Kent reckon the battery is good for 15 miles of range, but that will obviously depend on terrain and power usage. We have staff that live in Kent, so delivery and return of bikes can be arranged at ease. All eBike and eScooter users need to follow the rules of the road. Kent State University supports alternative mobility options to best serve the needs of kent bayside cruiser our campus community. The safety of our campus community remains a top priority, and we encourage everyone to Share the Road and look out for their fellow Flashes. The line will include the Van Dessel e-MTB, the Captain Shred, and the Van Dessel gravel bike, the Passepartout, which were engineered from the ground up around the new Panasonic GX0 motor. The Univega USA touring e-Bike, the UVG-1, will feature Panasonic’s X0 motor system, weighing in at 3.7kg. If there’s one thing worse than running out of battery before you’re home, it’s surely your young child’s heavy e-bike running out of battery before you’re home.

There’s also a 6-speed shifter that makes it easier for kids to climb hills in the proper gear, even without electric power. If the battery does die on a ride, the shifter definitely makes it more manageable to pedal. And yes, the Lectric XPremium is probably the best game in time now when it comes to mid-drives at affordable prices. For just a bit more at $1,799, the dual batteries, significantly higher power/speed, hydraulic disc brakes, and a pile of other features blow this Kent bike away. But Lectric’s model is also a folding fat tire e-bike and won’t fulfill the trail bike role that Kent’s offering here claims to satisfy. Electrek reports that the steel-framed Torpedo sports a 180W 24V rear hub motor with a 125Wh battery.

A 180W motor is relatively small and so is a 125Wh battery, but the Torpedo still weighs in at nearly 18kg. That’s quite a bit for a child to shift when there’s no power left. One of the challenges of producing a viable e-bike for children is that while the size of the bike may be smaller, the equipment needed to provide motor power doesn’t necessarily scale in the same way. These are typically 24” or 26” mountain bikes, but the Kent Torpedo is particularly striking because it’s a 20” bike.

The difference is that when you pedal, the motor kicks in to assist you, great for any hills. Alternatively you can switch the motor off and ride it like a conventional bike. Power Assist Kent ebike, featuring a custom alloy step through frame with disk brakes, shimano 16 speed drivetrain, Kenda tires and rear rack. Powered by a Shen-350 watt rear hub motor, 36v, 4.8 ah, using Samsung battery cells.

Most of the people buying this bike will love the wide, padded saddle and upright ride position, but adjusting the saddle angle was next to impossible. We hired the bikes for a day to travel from Staplehurst train station to Sissinghurst Castle. Marcus was exceptionally helpful when I was arranging the hire. His daughter helped us on the day and was able to collect us from and return us to the station.

Bike Rumour carries news of a new speed pedelec helmet from Endura. It is certified to speed pedelec standards (designed for greater speed impact and covering more of your head than a regular helmet) and features tilting visor and Koroyd Core honeycomb structured shock absorbing material. With a front suspension fork that isn’t much to write home about but still works just fine, the bike is somewhat sporty. We built a classic front yard ramp and had fun seeing who could get the most air.
