Between the integrity of its build and the wide, solid feet and base, you can throw the Cooler Quad on most any approximately level surface. I found that the hardest part about using the chair was deciding how I wanted to stock the cooler. These hanging pockets have quickly become the industry standard for folding chairs across a wide range of types.
“We use these every week for our kids’ games and practices,” wrote one five-star reviewer. They went on to share that “the carrying pouch is sturdy, the chairs are wide and comfy, and the cup holder [and] side cooler [are] so convenient.” There’s nothing like spending an afternoon sitting outside and coleman sleeping bag basking in the sun on a warm day, whether it’s on a beach, at a sports game, or even just in the backyard. When you’re searching for a new camp chair, sometimes you aren’t looking for the lightest possible option- you want the beefiest chair out there that can soak up as much strain as possible.
The 4-pound, steel-construction REI chair has an attached carry strap, rather than a carry bag like the other chairs. After a couple of camping trips, we concluded that a strap is more convenient than a bag—quicker and easier for a kid to grab the chair and go, without parental help. The REI chair is rated to hold up to 150 pounds, the same as the L.L.Bean and Walmart chairs. We think the REI chair is most appropriate for toddlers and kids up to about 7 or 8 years old, though reviews reveal that some small adults have found this to be their favorite seat.
By making a simple folding camp chair well- Coleman’s Cooler Quad has made the rankings as one of our favorites. It’s definitely one of the more comprehensively comfortable models that we tried out. If the arms were a coleman sleeping bag little longer and a little higher, it would be perfect- but by no means is this a deal-breaking oversight. As is the case with many mass-manufactured chairs, there tends to be some variance in quality over the years.
This chair had us impressed on all ends, and with its wide availability, the Cooler Quad is a stalwart defender of Coleman’s reputation as a king of camping. We found the Coleman Kickback Breeze Chair to be a simple yet very comfortable seat, though women liked it more than men did (many of them judged it to be too snug). Anecdotally, we found that this chair category in general is more popular among women than among men, who generally prefer a higher, upright seat. The strap that supports the back (and doubles as a carry strap) allows adjustments to control your angle of recline, from upright to a stargazing-appropriate angle.
At a fireworks show and at the beach, we appreciated a chair that was ready to go without even 30 seconds of hassle. The Everywhere Chair closes like a book—simply lift the padded strap and go. The Renetto chair usually comes in between 8 and 10 colors and is rated to hold up to 350 pounds. Walk around any campground or tailgate party, and you’ll notice the popularity of this variety of accordion-style seat.
However, unless you hit the exact right position, the unsupported fabric does very little to hold your head up.
