Nicotine was extracted from each cigarette and tobacco samples and was analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. Thirteen popular brands of imported and nine popular brands of domestic cigarettes as well as three brands of imported pipe tobacco were analyzed for their amount and percentage of nicotine content. Accordingly, cigarettes brand “57” contained the lowest amounts of nicotine and “Mehr” contained the highest amounts of nicotine. Although the amounts of nicotine in these cigarettes were significantly different but the percentage of nicotine in both of these cigarettes were about the same.
The standard curve over the range of 0 to 30 µg/ml was linear. Intra- and inter-day variations were assessed at 10, 20 and 30 µg/ml. The coefficients of variation were between 1.9% and 4.3%. BURN EXPERIENCEThis is the true downfall of the Captain Black Blends.
Nearly all pipe tobaccos have some degree of flavoring added, from rum to peach and anything in between. Aromatic Taste describes the extent to which the taste of the flavorings are apparent while smoking. Of these three I am most likely to smoke the Original more than the other two, as the mix of warm, comforting flavors and some real tobacco flavor. I think the Gold is technically superior, but it’s lemony-vanilla taste is so close lemony Virginias like MacBaren VA No 1 that I’d be more likely to reach for the latter. The Cherry was not for peterson pipes me, but as my first cherry it was good enough that I’m intrigued to try other, hopefully more forgiving blends in that direction.
Therefore, it seems important to measure the amount of nicotine in different kinds of cigarettes which is generally used by the people in this country. Some of the imported cigarettes were labeled as “light”. Considering the amount of tobacco as well as amount and percentage of nicotine, no significant differences were found between normal and light cigarettes. The main differences between them, if there was any, probably depended on the way they made as well as the length and size of the cigarettes. Most of the imported cigarettes have labeled with the nicotine yields and many consumers are highly motivated to select cigarettes with lower nicotine yields for their health benefits. Nicotine content of all tested cigarettes, imported and domestic brands, were higher than the international standard.

Captain Black Gold is well not quite gold, but in that direction. Most distinctly its much finer in cut than the other two Captain Black products reviewed here. It’s not shag but this will lead to a pretty quick burn without careful packing and puffing. Captain Black Gold has next to no development, sticking with a hay-berry-salt-vinegar-lemon Virginia profile with just a touch of Vanilla on top. Captain Black Cherry is, woof, that’s an intense blast to the nasal cavities. It’s not cough syrup but more cough drop or maybe cherry hard candy.
Simply put, how pronounced is the tobacco’s scent to those around you? Is it light and unassuming, or bold and pronounced? The more apparent and prominent the scent of your tobacco, the more intensive the room note. Similar to wine or beer, tobacco body refers to the depth and fullness of flavor. The types of tobacco leaves used determine the body of a blend. A low bodied blend (like Cavendish) could be compared to a Pilsner while an intensive bodied blend (such as Latakia) could be compared to a Stout.
